Cornell & Diehl – Small Batch Series – Palmetto Balkan
Cornell & Diehl – Small Batch Series – Palmetto Balkan
Dense smoke drifts through narrow alleys, the scent of precious spices hangs in the air, and somewhere in the distance the voices of a bustling bazaar echo. Between the gentle hills of the Balkans and the time-honored trade routes of the Orient, a tobacco culture once arose whose unmistakable blends are still regarded as legends today. It is precisely this era and its exceptional flavors to which Cornell & Diehl dedicates Palmetto Balkan as a delightful tribute. Like a journey into bygone epochs, this small batch combines the fascination of oriental tobaccos with the craftsmanship of classic English blends and invites you to rediscover the magic of a long-vanished era, pipe by pipe. All the more exclusive is this experience, as only 870 tins of this strictly limited small batch have found their way to Germany – a rare opportunity for lovers of classic Balkan blends.
Palmetto Balkan combines carefully matured oriental tobaccos with selected Carolina Red Virginias and a specially refined Turkish Latakia into an exceptionally harmonious Balkan blend. The spicy-floral nuances of the Basma and Prilep tobaccos meet the natural sweetness of the matured Virginias, while the Latakia contributes an elegant smokiness reminiscent of the legendary Syrian blends of times past. Notes of fine wood smoke, dark berries, oriental spices and a subtle, wine-like depth unfold over the course of the smoke into a multilayered taste experience. A small proportion of Black Cavendish gently rounds off the blend and provides a smooth balance that underscores the medium-strength character of this exceptional composition.
