Beschreibung

IM Corona – Old Boy – Lighter of the year 2018 – Perlmutt, rhodiumveredeltes Messing

IM Corona – Old Boy – Lighter of the year 2018 – mother-of-pearl, rhodium-plated brass

Marquetry was developed in Damascus around 600 BC. The skill reached Japan via China, where it was continuously perfected over the centuries. Precious woods, ivory, bone or turtle shells served as ornamental materials. In Japan, the processing of mother-of-pearl, which was used to decorate jewelry boxes, samurai armour, musical or writing instruments, was quickly appreciated. Lighters were also popular objects. On the occasion of the World Exhibition in Paris in 1878, Japanese craftsmanship received worldwide attention. And even today there are still a few artists in Japan who have mastered the processing of this extremely filigree material. Piece by piece, the mother-of-pearl is „dissected“ in small parts and reassembled, taking into account the natural mother-of-pearl mirror. A job in the micromillimeter range. A nod to handicrafts. For lovers of the special. Plated with rhodium.

The legendary Old Boy lighter enjoys cult status among pipe smokers. It is a high-quality companion that you can still rely on even after decades. The stone ignition is easy to care for, the integrated pipe tamper can be locked in place and can be pulled out of the base plate after a small turn and can then be used as a pipe mandrel. The 90 degree flame takes into account the special needs of the pipe smoker. The large brass tank holds a particularly large amount of gas. The Old Boy is solid, has a pleasant feel and the legendary design is reminiscent of the splendor of bygone eras.

Rhodium-plated brass / mother-of-pearl weighs 60 grams, 3.3 grams gas capacity, 65mm high/ 30mm wide/ 12mm flat
