E.P. Carrillo – The Godfather of Boutique Cigars

Hinter der Marke E.P. Carrillo steht kein geringerer als Ernesto Perez-Carrillo, einer der fähigsten und kreativsten Masterblender der heutigen Zeit. Geboren auf Kuba wurde ihm der Tabak sozusagen mit in die Wiege gelegt. Jedoch schlug Carrillo erst einen anderen Weg ein, indem er seiner Leidenschaft als Jazz-Musiker nachging. Seine Karriere in der Tabakindustrie startete Carrillo 1990 in der Firma seines Vaters, der »El Credito Cigar Company«. Die Nachfrage explodierte fast über Nacht durch eine fabelhafte Zigarrenbewertung im Cigar Aficionado und dem Zigarrenboom in Amerika. Im Jahr 2000 verkaufte er das Unternehmen, blieb dort aber noch bis 2009 als Masterblender tätig.

Carrillo sehnte sich nach neuen Herausforderungen. Er wollte es sich selbst beweisen, dass er auch ohne Zigarrenboom und ohne dass sein Vater ihm den Weg bereitete, Erfolg haben kann. Und so gründete er 2009 mit seinem Sohn und seiner Tochter das Unternehmen »EPC Cigar Co.«. Der Erfolg ließ nicht lange auf sich warten. Nicht umsonst ist er auch als »The Godfather of Boutique Cigars« bekannt. Sein Können stellt er mit seinen Serien unter Beweis und findet sowohl in der Fachpresse, als auch bei Aficionados, viel Anerkennung.

Behind the E.P. Carrillo brand stands none other than Ernesto Perez-Carrillo, one of the most skilled and creative master blenders of our time. Born in Cuba, tobacco was practically in his blood from birth. However, Carrillo initially pursued a different path, following his passion as a jazz musician. Carrillo began his career in the tobacco industry in 1990 at his father’s company, El Credito Cigar Company. Demand exploded almost overnight thanks to a fabulous cigar review in Cigar Aficionado and the cigar boom in America. In 2000, he sold the company but remained there as master blender until 2009.

Carrillo longed for new challenges. He wanted to prove to himself that he could be successful even without the cigar boom and without his father paving the way for him. And so, in 2009, he founded the company “EPC Cigar Co.” with his son and daughter. Success was not long in coming. It is not for nothing that he is also known as “The Godfather of Boutique Cigars.” He demonstrates his skill with his series and has earned much recognition from both the trade press and aficionados.
